How do you practice this in therapy?
Each student says a given sentence 3 times with varying inflection. Once as a statement with falling intonation, then as a question with rising intonation, and the third time as an exclamatory sentence with expression throughout. Once the students get the hang of it, it is time to level up! Students randomly pick how they are going to say the sentence and the other students guess what type of inflection they are using.
The dice game you see was used after every turn to keep students motivated and engaged. After each turn they rolled the dice and got to put a token on the corresponding dice on the board. To win, you need a straight (#s 1-6) or 4 of a kind. The dice game was used in other sessions today as well. It a great purchase for 80 cents from Teachers Pay Teachers and is sold by The Buckeye Speech Path.
