Don't Spill The Beans:
This game is played by putting beans one at a time on top of the pot. Instead of using the beads, we just use the articulation or language cards and place them on top. If the cards spill on your turn, you have to collect all of the cards. Wild cards in the deck can be used for skipping a turn, reversing the order of play, and swapping hands with another player. This game can be played individually or on teams.
Too Many Teddies:
I purchased this game many years ago when my daughter was 3 so it is at least 10 years old. In the original game, players put cards that either match the number or color of the buttons on teddies shirt on the bed that wobbles back and forth. The concept of the game is similar to UNO. Since this game is for preschool students, I've adapted it to use for any student in elementary school by placing the therapy cards on top of the bed instead of the teddy cards that come with the game.
Therapists can target any skill using these games. For higher level students that have mastered words, phrases, and sentences, I challenge them by having them say the sentence as a statement, exclamatory sentence, or question by using different intonation.
Here's an example:
Statement: My sister borrowed my scarf. (falling intonation)
Question: My sister borrowed my scarf? (rising intonation)
Exclamation: MY SISTER BORROWED MY SCARF! (excitement throughout)
More posts to come so stay tuned! :)
