What skills can I target with this game? Articulation, vocabulary, formulating questions, answering wh questions, similarities and differences, categories, and pragmatics are some of the skills you can target during therapy with this game.
So how can I adapt this game for speech and language therapy?
Round Robin: I have the students take turns holding up a character card. They are allowed to ask each student in the group 1 question about their card. I usually have them ask only yes/no questions to make it a little more challenging. If they correctly guess their character after the allotted questions, they earn a point. Play continues for several rounds and the student with the most chips is the winner. Of course, I always have to have a turn as well. For added fun, I take pictures of each student and allow them to see their picture through the viewer. Although I have mirrors in my room, the kids seem to really enjoy the effect.
Individual Therapy: In my 1 on 1 sessions, I also use this on a more basic level when I am working on answering "who" questions. It is also very helpful in working on the difference between "who" and "what" since both animals and people are provided.
Similarities and Differences: Two children can wear the masks while the other children in the group compare the similarities and differences between the two characters.
In what other profession could you get paid to dress up like a monkey?
